Beauty and the Beast: The Fairy Tale: One of many adaptations of this classic fairy tale, playwright Jesse Beers designed this as a three-act play for children. Beauty, a spirited girl of fifteen, sees an apparition of the Beast living nearby as a handsome prince. She falls in love despite her father's warnings and her betrothal to local shepherd Amos. When Beauty escapes to the Beast's castle, her father and Amos join forces to rescue her and kill the Beast. Before the men succeed, Beauty must decipher a series of clues and speak the words that will release the Beast from his enchantment.
