Kismet

Kismet: Music by Robert Wright and George Forrest. Book by Charles Lederer and Luther Davis. Love and ambition abound in this musical set in the times of The Arabian Nights. A poet, Haji, takes advantage of mistaken identity to climb out of poverty, and he finds himself in love with one of the concubines of the evil Wazir. Meanwhile, Haji’s daughter, Marsinah, falls in love with the gardener, who is the Caliph in disguise. However, the Wazir puts their hopes – and lives – in peril, and it will take Haji’s quick thinking to save the day. With a score based on the melodies of Alexander Borodin, this musical soars with classic Broadway songs such as “Baubles, Bangles, and Beads” and “Stranger in Paradise.”
