The Wiz: William F. Brown and Charlie Smalls retell Frank L. Baum's Wizard of Oz in the context of the 1970's African American culture. This 1975 Tony Best Musical follows four friends, the Cowardly Lion, the Tinman, the Scarecrow and Dorothy from Kansas on their quest to find the Wizard of Oz and ask for courage, heart, brains and a way home. Along the way, they learn that they each already have the power to be who they want to be.
