Sound of Music: Rodgers and Hammerstein collaborated with writers Howard Lindsay and Russell Crouse to create this musical adaptation of Maria von Trapp's memoirs, The Story of the Trapp Family Singers. A young and disobedient postulant at the Nonnberg Abbey in Austria, Maria Rainer, is sent to be the governess of a widowed captain's seven children to help her decide if she is ready for monastic life. Maria bonds with the children and falls in love with the captain as the Third Reich of Germany annexes Austria and the family is forced to flee.
