Urinetown

Urinetown: This 2001 dystopian musical comedy by Greg Kotis and Mark Hollmann satirizes some of the major themes of western society including capitalism, resource management, politics and social responsibility, not to mention the Broadway musical format. After a twenty year drought, private bathrooms are a thing of legend and everyone must pay, by law, to use public toilets. The public restrooms are controlled by the megacorporation Urine Good Company or UGC and anyone who breaks the pay to pee laws is sent to Urinetown, a mysterious exile that no one returns from. Narrated by Officer Lockstock and street urchin Little Sally, the story follows the attempted rebellion of Bobby Strong and Hope Cladwell, heiress of the UGC.
