Yeoman of the Guard: Music by Arthur Sullivan and libretto by W.S. Gilbert. Set in the Tower of London in the 16th century, Colonel Fairfax faces execution in twenty-four hours for false charges of sorcery. Not wanting to let his estate fall into the clutches of his accuser (his cousin), Fairfax secretly marries strolling singer Elsie Maynard who hopes to become a well-paid widow. However, Fairfax escapes his execution, throwing the Tower into disarray and Elsie into despair.
