Call Me Madam
Call Me Madam:
Music by Irving Berlin.
Book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse. Sally Adams, a politically-inexperienced, wealthy widow, becomes the US Ambassador to the small country of Lichtenburg. While serving there, she charms the people (including the handsome Prime Minister) with her undiplomatic manner. Throw in a second love story, political opposition, and Irving Berlin tunes (such as “Hostess with the Mostess” and “It’s a Lovely Day Today”) and you have a hum-able, hilarious musical.
