Gigi

Gigi: Music by Frederick Loewe. Book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner. Set in 1890’s Paris, the distinguished and worldly-wise Honoré Lachailles narrates the story of Gigi, a plucky young girl who befriends Gaston, the most eligible bachelor in Paris. After Gaston breaks his engagement with the spoiled and fickle Liane, he finds comfort in playing card games with Gigi and her grandmother, Mamita. Gigi makes a bet with him that if she wins the game he has to take all three of them to the coast for a weekend. She wins and he lives up to his end of the bargain. Gaston finds himself falling in love with Gigi and seeks to court her. However, Gigi’s has reservations. Will he jilt her as he has other women? Could he truly love her? With songs such as “The Night They Invented Champagne,” and “Gigi” this show has the opportunity for large dance numbers and strong character roles.
