Hair
Hair: Subtitled "The American Tribal Rock Musical," Hair brings to a broader audience the Utopian philosophies, unorthodox behavior, political convictions and harsh realities of the sixties' flower children. Inspired by peace activist Sheila and anti-establishment leader George Berger, young Claude embraces the tribe's lifestyle of drugs, free love and long hair. Disgraced by his parents and society and at a loss for alternative options, he must decide whether or not to evade his draft notice. With this ensemble style rock musical, creators James Rado, Gerome Ragni and Galt MacDermot shocked their audience with an interracial cast, onstage nudity, audience participation and their direct approach to controversial topics and sexuality. Hit songs include: "Aquarius," "Electric Blues," "Let the Sun Shine In," "Hair," "Hare Krishna" and "I Got Life."
