The Gondoliers
The Gondoliers:
By Gilbert and Sullivan. When Marco and Giuseppe, Venetian twin gondoliers, choose their brides, they do not realize how complicated their first few days of marriage will be! The Duke and Duchess of Plaza-Toro come to the scene, along with their daughter, Casilda, and claim that one of the brothers is the long-lost heir to the throne of Barataria and Casilda’s husband, who she was married-by-proxy to as an infant. Unfortunately, that means one of the twins is an accidental bigamist and Casilda’s romance with the duke’s attendant, Luiz, is in jeopardy. Filled with characteristic Gilbert and Sullivan-esque farce and the most dancing of any G&S operettas, this is a rewarding production for school, community, and professional theaters.
